2008 National Service Coordinator Conference FSS Scholarships
Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program coordinators, in either the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV-FSS) or the Public Housing (PH-FSS) programs, needing financial assistance to attend the 2008 National Service Coordinator Conference in Washington, DC can now apply for a $1000 scholarship. Conference registration fees will be covered by the scholarship and the balance can be used for travel expense reimbursement.
This scholarship fund was made possible by the generous support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation through the Center for Housing Policy to assist FSS coordinators reach a higher level of performance by participating in the conference and enhance their knowledge so they will, in turn, contribute to their organization, the profession as a whole and be better able to serve their FSS program participants.
In order to be eligible, an applicant must:

a) be a member of AASC in good standing (a special, time-limited* one-year introductory membership is offered at $129). Click here for the time-limited AASC Membership application,
b) have the approval of his or her supervisor to attend and participate in the full conference,
c) have completed six months of continuous employment as an FSS coordinator,
d) provide written documentation from employer proving financial hardship
e) have not previously received a scholarship from AASC to attend a National Service Coordinator Conference.
The $1000 scholarship covers the cost of registration. The balance can be used for travel expenses and will be paid upon submission of receipts after the conference. Scholarship awardees are required to stay at the conference hotel - the Hilton Washington.

All applications must be received in the AASC office by 5 p.m. EDT Friday, August 15, 2008. Applications received after August 15 will not be considered. Applications will be reviewed and awardees notified by August 29.
